Without You
(Ed Du Bois, IslandHome, Records)
Lyrics and Music by Ed Du Bois, December 20, 2005, Copyright 2006
The idea for this song came to me one day when I was reading my father's old diary. He had been dating my mother for several years in both high school and college and was expecting to see her at a party on December 30, 1932. Much to his surprise a friend came to him and said did you hear about Winifred? She married Lee Smith tonight! It must have been quite a shock. He briefly described it in the diary and concluded by writing in red ink, underlined "Love's Cruel Tonight". I used that comment to build this song and tried to imagine his pain. I'll have to right another songs to explain the rest of the story!

1
Hey don't ya love me anymore,
Don't hear ya knockin' at my door,
Sleep alone each night,
It don't seem right,
Without you, yeah, oh yeah.
2
Dreamed I was dancing slow with you,
Just the way we used to do,
Now I dance alone,
Don't dance too slow,
Without you um hum.
3
Thought I saw you the other day,
I smiled but you turned and walked away,
Don't smile too much,
Been out of touch,
Without you.
4
Heard you got married by the way,
Can't believe it ended that way,
Love's cruel tonight,
But I'll be alright,
Without you, um hum, hum
Without you, um hum, hum
